The Wage Gap Between Men And Women - 1337 Words
Men and women. Even the name of the female gender is derived from the male species. For years, women have been discriminated against in an array of areas such as politics, at home, and in the workplace. The most debated area of gender discrimination is the wage gap between men and women. After reviewing the following facts, it is obvious women are essentially just as valuable as men, and therefore should be treated equally in the workplace. The pay gap between males and females has been a topic that has been heavily debated for years. To every story, there are two sides, but to this one, in particular itââ¬â¢s obvious as to which one is morally correct. When examining each individual fact it is clear to see that gender discrimination against women in the workplace is wrong. There are numerous examples of how the wage gap is still apparent in todayââ¬â¢s society. Women only make 77% of what men earn in the same occupation (Carnevale, 1). Meaning women make only 77 cents to every dollar men earn. This gap in wages is backed up with no probable cause for the wage gap between genders. After seeing these statistics it easy to see women are discriminated down to the cent based on their gender. Whatever gender, race, or religion an individual is one would assume that the higher up their position is at work, the more they would make.
